I asked myself, what is the one thing that every human being has a passionate desire for? After contemplating this question and searching my own soul, I found the answer to be freedom. From the day we were created and born into this world our hearts have beaten to the tune of freedom. Can you hear it?

What is freedom? What does it mean to be free? We live in the United States of America; the land of freedom and opportunity. We have the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom to come and the freedom to go. But is our freedom being taken from us, or maybe a better question, “Can our freedom be taken from us?” All that America has to offer in the land of the free has come with a price, a price that cost many their lives. Fighting to be free, isn’t that interesting. We will fight to the death for our freedom. I believe the reason many are willing to sacrifice their life to be free is because our Creator placed this passion and desire for freedom deep within the heart of every living soul. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence in 1776: “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Our founding fore fathers knew what they were talking about. Our yearning for freedom is a powerful drawing force. Freedom stirs in our souls like a fire that cannot be quenched. We are determined to have freedom no matter the cost. Give me Liberty or give me death was the words of Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry realized that Freedom is worth dying for, he had concluded that if he couldn’t be free alive then he would be free in death.
With a man’s last dying breath freedom’s heartbeat will not be silenced it will beat louder still. In death the heartbeat of freedom is now united with the heart of its Creator. God is the Author and Creator of Freedom’s heartbeat. When our heart is united with God’s they will beat as “ONE”. Come what may nothing and or no one will ever be able to silence the Heartbeat of Freedom, for it is the Heartbeat of God and it never dies! Freedom’s heart is still beating, can you hear it?

I think peace and happiness rate very high as well.
In my research I have reasoned God has put us through the problem of evil and believers through salvation by Christ, in part, in order to demonstrate the eventual superior freedom of a life filled with the Holy Spirit in the culminated Kingdom, in comparison to our present life where we have a type of freedom but struggle with suffering, sin and death.

yeah i agree peace and happiness rate high as well, when we can pursue life, liberty and happiness that has a way of making things a little more peaceful. But of course i understand that true everlasting peace, joy and freedom are only found in Christ Jesus :)

Yes, I believe it can...in fact, I do believe we're already less free than we used to be. It's like putting the frog in the pan of cool water on the stove and then turning the heat on...it doesn't even notice the gradual change in temperature until it's too late. I hope it won't be too late for us before we hop "out of the pan."

[15] For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
[16] As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Freedom needs to have its bounds, else anything goes.

Thanks Greg for your comment.. Yes freedom in righteousness is true freedom. As you have stated in verse 16 in the word of God to not use your liberty as a license to sin. In so doing that is not true freedom at all, it is bondage (to sin). Those who do this might think they are free but they are only deceiving themselves. I will be by to visit your blog soon. Living in this country we tend to take freedom for granted, don't we? How easy to forget the struggle for freedom that Jesus endured for us spiritually and the founding fathers for us politically. We can't take it for granted! We need to be reminded that freedom isn't free. Thanks for the reminder.

Very well said! If we are to keep our freedoms here in America, we need to think about what Ben Franklin said - "We have given you a republic - if you can keep it."
We need to be diligent caretakers of our Republic - our freedom depends on it!

Thank you for commenting. I sure hope that we as a country can keep the republic. But the way things look I am becoming concerned about that. But again they may take our physical freedoms but they can't take our spiritual freedom from us. For even in death we are still free!

Tamela, this is a very profound post. I agree with you that freedom is like an innate desire.
When we grow older, if we know Christ, we seek the freedom that is only possible through absolute and complete surrender to Christ.
That kind of freedom almost hurts, because it's so amazing! Typically, it comes after much trial and refining in the fire, but it is so worth it when you get there!
