I hear this much to often, "I believe in Jesus, I'm a Christian." But when it comes to the Word many will say, "Oh! that's not for today and you can't believe everything you read in there". Wait a minute now, maybe you don't understand, Jesus and the Word are One, and they cannot be separated for you see JESUS IS THE WORD! So how can you say that you believe in Jesus but not the Word? How can you say that you are a Christian (meaning Christ within) and not believe what the Word of God says?Jn.1:1- In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God.
Jn.1:14- And the WORD was "made flesh" and "dwelt among us", (and we beheld His glory, the glory of the ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father), full of grace and Truth.
Jn.3:16- For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
Do you see the similarities in those verses. If you truly believe in Jesus then you will believe the Word, because they are the same. I am not being judgemental nor am I condemning anyone I am only sharing God's Word and what it says. I am truly concerned for those who call themselves Christian but toss the Word aside. And sadly many throw parts of the Bible out just so they can continue living a life in sin, because it's easier that way and they don't feel convicted. The Bible says that we are to examine ourselves to see if we are truly in Christ or not. How do we do this you may ask? Well, by simply believing in Jesus/The Word, and believing that He/Jesus and He/The Word is indeed Truth and for us to live by. Jesus/Word is the Way the Truth and the Life.
Sometimes I think it is easier to grasp truths in poetry. So I have a poem to share concerning this subject.
JESUS IS THE WORD
We have lifted our voices and your Truth we proclaim
We have even loved others in Jesus mighty name
But hearts are so cold and hardened to thee
That your Word they reject and from their sins they won't flee
Oh! they say they believe and on your Word they do stand
But when put to the test they fulfill their own plan
They walk their own path and justify their sin
As if your Word means nothing and doesn't pertain to them
They honor you with their lips, just words that is all
For their heart is far from you and to the world they do call
What's going to be sad, is on that final day
When they come knocking at your door and you turn them away
"Depart from me" those words will ring true,
"You workers of iniquity for you I never knew"
"For me to know you and you to truly know me
A love for my Word must be your heart's plea"
"I cannot know you if you toss my Word to the side
For you see it's in me (MY WORD) you abide"
"It's my Spirit that binds us (my Word in your heart)
Which brings us together and never apart"
"For I am the Word and Jesus Christ is my name
And we cannot be separated for we are ONE in the same."

An excellent point.
I often make the mistake of looking at the Bible and thinking to myself in some subconscience manner, "This is the word of God as man has attempted to translate".
And, I would suggest that maybe other people look at it that way too.
Let's just take the word "Glory", for example.
I wanted to understand what was so terreble about Moses having asked God for Him to show Moses God's 'glory'. What I found in that particular passage is the glory of God is so terrible and weighty that it would cause man to parish if he were to see it.
Then, I did a complete study on the word glory and found it to be used for an array of ideas; (I.E. boasting, esstimating a man's character, ornamenting,...). So, in so many ways, we as translators of manuscripts have thrown all kinds of Greek and Hebrew under one word in English. Another more familiar and well known flaw is how we translate the Greek for love. Phileo, erose, agape, storegate. Our language does not have a way to differentiate between the different types of love.
Anyway, you are correct. It is not Jesus, The Word who has made the mistake. He is the word. However, when a man says "we can not trust the word of God", I would say that they are referring to translation. So, it is not the word of God we can not trust. It is the work of man.
Also, the next time some one says that to you, tell them to begin studying if they want to learn to trust God's word.
Thank you Jim for your comment. You have brought up a very good point as well. People have a tendency to look at man's interruptation of the Word instead of leaning on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide them into the Truths of God's Word. And because there are soo many different int. of scriptures they just decide to forget about believing the Truth of God's Word. I just recently had some dialogue with an anonymous who commented on the post "Who will proclaim God's Righteousness" the one I wrote about Obama. I was explaining to him that there were basic Truths in God's Word that are very clear and plain as to understand and then of course there were scriptures that were deeper more profound which we might not clearly understand until we see our Lord face to face and then all questions will be answered. But ne ways to make a long story short he sorta ended on the idea of defending the homosexual lifestyle. What the word of God had to say about the sin of homosexuality well he chose to overlook those scriptures (in other words not take that part of the Word of God to heart). The scriptures which pertain to the sin of homosexuality are very clear and for anyone to overlook these basic truths well they are either denying the Truth or avoiding it so as not to feel convicted!

This post struck me. It's so easy to say we believe in Jesus, but harder to live like we do. We can't love and be devoted to Someone if we don't take the time to discover Him. And what better way to do that than a book He Himself has written?

Well said, Tamela! We must remember that those who do not believe in the Bible (as I once did) are not saved, and they require much patience. I will never forget the conversation I had with my high school youth group leader. I had never claimed to be saved, nor really understood what it meant, but I had questions. When I approached him and asked about the accuracy of the Bible, he got very defensive and said that if I believe in God, then I must accept the whole Bible as truth. I did not understand this at the time, nor did he make any attempt to explain (perhaps out of sheer shock at my question). But his reaction reflected very poorly on all of Christendom, until, many years later, Jesus brought a certain young lady into my life, who led by her sincere and loving example. I'll leave you to guess who that might've been! ;)

Thank you for commenting. You have a wonderful wife there. I had some great dialogue with your wife on the post "WHO WILL PROCLAIM GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS" we see a lot of things alike.
I have always welcomed those who are desiring to learn and have questions. Those whom i do not have very much patience with are those who claim to be A Christian and say they are saved, and know the Word but blatantly rebel against it and at the same time justify their sins as if the Word doesn't pertain to them. "My desire is to try and persuade them to examine themselves to see whether they are "truly" in Christ or not before it is to late for them!"
Maybe i do need more patience with them, but i am reminded that Jesus didn't have much patience with the scribes, pharisees and saducees. They were people who knew the word but twisted it for their own benefit and power and then would push their agendas and so-called righteousness in the face of others. This didn't set very well with Jesus, and he had a few names for them.
I have Christ's Holy Spirit within me and I feel as though i can relate a little to His frustration when it comes to the pride and arrogance of those who take pleasure in trying to force others to be in agreement with them and their sinful ways and all the while they are proclaiming their righteousness/salvation in God!
And if one does not concede and agree, well, there will be prices to pay! The people then were paying dearly under the power of the scribes and pharisees and we are seeing God's people today who are beginning to pay under the rule of this Liberal American government who speak and stand-up for those who claim to be holy but in all actuality they are in direct rebellion to God almighty!

Totally agree, Tamela! :) I also have little patience for those who are Christians in name only, when I think they ought to know better.
What's worse is that even those who may be sincere don't spend enough time learning God's Word, to know to differentiate between truth and deception and then either are led astray or lead astray many others. Some high-profile "Christian leaders" come to mind.
