Bold as a Lion

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion (Pr. 28:1)
In Rev. 21:8 the word of God says that the fearful (which means cowardly in the Greek) will have their place in the lake which burneth with brimstone: which is the second death.I don't know about you but those scriptures speak volumes to me. I take this very seriously in my own life and I believe all who consider themselves men and women of God should take this seriously as well. God says that He did not give us a spirit of timidity but of power, love and a sound mind. He is not the author of cowardliness. We serve a mighty and courageous God who created a human race in His own image and breathed life into them and He expects us to be a people that conduct ourselves likewise just as we were created to do. We will never be as great as our God but we are to model His character. God is not in the business of creating milk toast Christians, the enemy might be, but not our Jehovah God.

I am looking forward to the day when men and women of God from all over the world begin to boldly speak-up once again and make a righteous stand against wickedness. I am not promoting activism per say as some might interpret it. I am simply saying that I would like to see men and women of God stand up for the Word of God and let their voices be heard. If the Word of God isn't being followed in us (the church), how are we going to make an impact in the world.

This message is for all who call themselves men and women of Jehovah God: "May all of us begin to make a stand against the enemy." If this fleshly vessel goes down at least we can go down in great courage and rise up in Christ Jesus who has the victory! And the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. We as the people of God need to make a bold stand and speak the Word and bring loving correction and instruction, and if necessary reproof or rebuke. We are all accountable to the Word of God, and no one is greater than our God.

When we don't make a stand for God's Word this is cowardly and this is a sin, and if we do this it is likely that we could be placing ourselves in the hands of an angry God. The fear of man must cease in Jesus name and God's people repent.

The Word says In Mt. 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. May this exhort all to make a stand and be a righteous people that are bold as lions. It is time!!! Here is a perfect example of why God's people need to start speaking up. The Word of God says to Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Tim. 4: 2-4).

Great, great post Tamela...you are so right! We need to stand boldly on the Word of God, completely trusting that the Holy Spirit will give us the knowledge we need and the words to speak!

Tamela,

You are so spot on quoting this passage:
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

I think that time has come and we need to stop being afraid of offending someone or of being ridiculed. Actually, I find people show respect toward one who professes their faith and even comes to them when they have problems. However, I am not so sure this will continue in the near future.

We need to always remember 1 John 4: 4-6

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood."

In Rev. 21:8 the word of God says that the fearful (which means cowardly in the Greek) will have their place in the lake which burneth with brimstone: which is the second death.

The fact we as Christians set up blogs, network, and at times take stands for others that defend the gospel, in an indicator of how we differ from the cowardly described. Thank God for that.

I suppose in our development the Lord can at times move us to overcome various fears and related unwillingness to accomplish certain things. Thank God for that.

Hello Larry,

You bring up a good passage of scripture. Those who are of God will listen to us but those who are of the world won't listen to us. I guess we can only pray that when we do speak-up that there will be some that will hear and listen and this should be our motivation that even if it is just one person that hears it will be worth it all.

Hello Russ,

You are one of many bloggers Russ that defend the Gospel and speaks-up. I praise God for people like yourself. But sadly there are many that proclaim one thing but when it comes time to show forth the deeds of their lives and stand up for the Word of God to be Godly examples/witnesses they will cower and many of those people are in the church today.

I have found that many who don't speak up simply don't have the heart for it. Playing "church" will not inspire spontaneous worship, praise, testimony, or example. These things should not be forced or done out of duty. They should flow easily from a changed and thankful heart overflowing with love for Jesus. I have experienced both, and there is no comparison. One is dead and ineffective. The other is life and light and salt. :-)

Here in the state of Virginia, our cowardly Governor has bent to the demands of the minority. He told six police chaplains they were not permitted to pray publicly in Jesus name. These six chaplains turned in their badges.
My thoughts were, this is where the difference lies in eternity for the Governor and the six chaplains. I would not want to be Governor Tim Kain on judgement day!
The six chaplains, I believe have spoken greatly for our Lord in resigning their positions. I can barely imagine they fear judgement day.

Hi Tamela,

Another good post! Yes, we who call ourselves Christians, need to take a bold stance for the Word of God.

I am reminded of a time (I was a brand new Christian), and a woman who I had met through a small group Bible Study...turned out to be committing adultery! Being brand new, I knew this was against God, so I spoke the truth in love to her and exposed her sin (just like in 2 Cor. 5) Well, she didn't repent, in fact, she was very nasty to me, and I don't see her anymore at church.

Speaking the truth in love isn't always easy, or does it bring about the best outcome...but speaking the truth is necessary if we are to follow Jesus.

God bless!

Hi Tamela,
This is one of the sayings in the Bible that people have forgotten about. I call them forgotten basics.
We must be strong as lions and gentle as lambs - impossible without the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Blessings,
Vicki

Yes! Yes! Yes! this is the second time this verse has come across my screen today. The other was Coach Dave Daubenmire's article...I am glad there are those who stand strong in the face of adversity. He lost his job for praying with his h.s. football team. sued by the aclu.
